2012 IRIS Workshop
Evaluation and Animation of Noise at SPREE Flexible Array and Transportable Array Stations
Emily Wolin: Northwestern University, Suzan van der Lee: Northwestern University
Animated noise spectra of 3 months of USArray SPREE station SM17 show expected diurnal variation and interesting features. As expected, noise around local midnight is typically less than around noon. This difference is most pronounced on the horizontal components at periods less than 0.3 s and greater than 30 s. Earthquakes (e.g. days 138 and 175) and mass recenterings (e.g. days 109, 179) produce infrequent, high-noise events.
