For success in a technical position, two (2) elements are critical, one without the other is less than ideal: (1) excellent technical abilities/work; and (2) great communication abilities. You need the ability to communicate to: (1) get cooperation; (2) sell your ideas; and (3) convince people of the value of your work (planned, in progress, or completed). In technical writing, write as you would speak in a conversation to those in your intended audience, and replace the suspense outline (passive voice) with the informative style (active voice).
