Description
Selection of the Yellowstone-eastern Snake River Plain region for the seismic experiment was based upon the recognition that it representeda major continental, volcano-tectonic province (over 800 km long) and suggested a lithospheric source of heating that had thermally perturbed and altered an overlying Archean crystalline crust.
