IRIS has had a major impact on the work of academic researchers and seismological practitioners. Without IRIS, we wouldn’t have detailed imaged of Earth’s interior and we couldn’t respond rapidly to tsunami-generating earthquakes. While sustaining the core programs, we must seek opportunities for growth and funding in research, monitoring, outreach and education, and demonstrate the value of IRIS to the broader Earth Science community. It would a privilege to be on the Board of Directors for another year.
