Having IRIS operate smoothly and efficiently is essential for many seismological researchers, and this will become ever more important and challenging as more and more multidisciplinary research is done with IRIS data. As someone with a wide range of interests, from global tomography and dense array imaging to basic mechanics and non-traditional seismic sources, I believe I have a perspective on IRIS that will be useful as IRIS transitions into its new re-competed version of itself.
