These documents and tables are intended to present a snapshot of the overall GSN data quality and provide a station-by-station assessment of various data quality status measures.
2014 GSN Network Operators Quarterly Assessment:
With the development and implementation of the MUSTANG tool from the IRIS DMC to compute quality metrics, and the LASSO tool which aggregates this information, we are able to generate and openly present a semi-automated and actionable report. Below, we present the first report generated via MUSTANG and LASSO.
2011 GSN Network Operators Quarterly Assessment:
For these preliminary tables, the assessment is more qualitative, but as we move forward with the development of enhanced data quality metric tools, this will move to a more quantitative and automated system and provide more station specific information.
GSN Performance Table Caption: Table showing network operator (ASL & IDA) estimates of data availability and quality from GSN stations (one row per station). The first two columns give the network code and station code. The following columns provide, for each station, a qualitative assessment of quality, with separate entries for each sensor component, station site, DAS, and communications. An overall assessment of quality for the station is also given, along with notes on upgrade status, the most recent calibration date, and other operator comments. In all cases, quality is indicated using a red/yellow/green color scheme. In general, throughout the table, green represents no problems, or only minor problems (assuming that the secondary sensor is working), yellow represents items with significant problems, and red represents unusable data, or station outages. White in the "Primary", "Secondary", and "Low Gain" columns indicate that a station does not have a sensor of that particular type.
Detailed description of each column, from left to right:
(A) network code
(B) station code
(C) Next Generation System (NGS) upgrade status (orange representing those stations that have completed the NGS upgrade)
(D-F) show the quality of the site; DAS; and communications (blue indicates stations with no telemetry)
(G-O) show the quality of the vertical and horizontal components of:
the primary sensor (G-I),
secondary broadband sensor (J-L), and
the low-gain sensor (M-O).
(P-Q) give the year (P) and Julian day (Q) of the last station calibration: colored green if the calibration occurred within the last year and was good; yellow if the calibration occurred within the last year but showed problems; and white if the calibration is older than one year.
(R-S) give the dates on which any known problem was identified (R) and when a solution is expected (S).
(T) gives an overall assessment of the total station quality.
(U-V) contain notes from station users (U) and station operators (V), mostly about problems and possible solutions.
