Welcome to the EarthScope Consortium! We are excited to inaugurate a new era in community governance and shared integrated and interdisciplinary geophysics support. The first official action of the EarthScope Consortium will be to elect its first Board of Directors following the first-year board selection process in our EarthScope Bylaws (see: sites.google.com/iris.edu/united/merger-documents). Consortium Member Representatives will be electing 8 (!) board members. The full board of 12 community members will consist of these elected members, plus two individuals from each of the current IRIS and UNAVCO Boards that were selected this summer by those boards. These four Board transferring members will be: Jeff Freymueller, Leigh Stearns, Anne Sheehan, and Brandon Schmandt, each appointed to a 1-year term.
The directors elected from the extraordinary group of individuals listed below will lead our post-merger EarthScope organization. Each of these individuals demonstrates a commitment to community governed and operated facilities through their impressive body of scientific and service work. They will guide the EarthScope organization in executing its mission to transform global geophysical research and education.
The nomination committee has carefully selected these individuals to represent both our seismic and geodetic communities, per the terms of the EarthScope bylaws which specifically address the election of the initial EarthScope Board of Directors. We believe this balanced representation will lead us through the transition to EarthScope and will capably represent broad perspectives from throughout the geophysics community.
Member representatives will be asked to return votes for each of the eight director positions on the ballot. The candidate materials available on this page are also available from within the ballot. The election will close at 11:59 PM MST on September 9, 2022.
