Description: IRIS is funded by the National Science Foundation under the NSF SAGE award to establish a new pool of portable magnetotelluric (MT) instruments at the PASSCAL Instrument Center—which maintains equipment, provides training, and assists in data handling and archival at no cost to Principal Investigators. We expect to have both new long-period and wideband/broadband MT instruments available to potential users by the end of 2020. The first webinar in this series provided an introduction to MT and described the nascent PASSCAL MT facility.
In this webinar, seven practitioners of MT research will present brief case studies which demonstrate how MT is a versatile tool for investigating different facets of the earth system.
Presentations:
Together, these presentations will take about 50 mins, and afterwards the speakers will be available to answer questions. We especially encourage attendees who are new to MT or interested in combining MT observations with planned seismic studies.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. The live broadcast is limited to the first 500 attendees. All IRIS webinars are archived for later viewing at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD4D607C2FA317E6D
General questions about webinars (webinar@iris.edu) or inquiries about the MT program and suggestions for the webinar series (andy.frassetto@earthscope.org) are welcome.
