IRIS data used to win Gold Medal in Science Fair!

9th grade student Artash Nath recently won the “Gold Medal” and a “Special Award on Math, Databases and Statistical Analysis” at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, 2021. Nash used IRIS seismic data to create an interactive web app that shows changes in human activity due to COVID-19 safety measures. He also analyzed 18 months of seismic data, both pre and post pandemic, and determined that high frequency seismic vibrations associated with human activity decreased 12-55% in Canadian cities during lockdown. Visit his web app and learn more about his research.

Congratulations to this young scientist!
