IRIS Data Management System to Host Short Course on Web Services on Monday, December 5
The IRIS Data Management System will host the short course, "Web services: A powerful new method of accessing data from the IRIS DMC, " on December 5 in San Francisco.
The half-day session will include:
- a description of the web services currently available at the IRIS DMC and how you can use them to access data and information;
- demonstration of command-line scripts that can be used to request waveform data, metadata, instrument responses and event information;
- an introduction to the IRIS Java Web Services Library that can be used to request these fundamental data types and make them available in a Java environment;
- a summary of our plans to support direct access to data from within a MATLAB(r) environment; and
- a review of other resources available to request data via web services such as ObsPy for the Python programming environment.
Time: Monday, December 5, 2011 from 8:30AM to noon.
Location: The MOMA room at the Palomar Hotel, 12 Fourth Street, San Francisco, CA 94103.
