New Video on the Himalaya and the 2015 Nepal Earthquake

Monday, April 25 marks the one-year anniversary of the devastating M7.8 earthquake in Nepal. IRIS has created a short video that discusses the evolution of the Himalaya in a broad tectonic context and then focuses more closely on the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Please share this video with interested friends and colleagues.

Also visit our special web page with additional relevant content, including animations detailing convergent plate boundaries, the formation of the Himalayas, building resonance, and ground motion during the earthquake. This web page also includes the Recent Earthquake Teachable Moment developed last year immediately after the earthquake, an interactive map showing the earthquake sequence, and technical and scientific information about this earthquake.
