Open Call for IRIS Committee Nominations

Community guidance and oversight are essential for ensuring that IRIS-managed facilities remain cutting edge and continue to serve the highest priority needs of the scientific community. The committees in the IRIS governance structure provide a direct voice for the community to bring issues of policy and program development to the Programs and to the Board of Directors (BoD). They also provide recommendations to Program Managers, the BoD and the IRIS President on annual program plans and budgets.

Nominations are currently being sought for all IRIS standing and advisory committees for terms that begin in January 2016. A list of current IRIS committees, their charges and current committee members is available on the IRIS website at: http://dev.iris.edu/hq/about_iris/governance.

IRIS committee members are appointed by the BoD and typically serve for a term of 3 years. Normally, individuals may serve on only one IRIS committee concurrently. In order to tap into the breadth of expertise and perspectives in the community, nominations are encouraged to reflect this diversity with respect to gender, race, ethnicity, career stage, institutional affiliation and expertise.

Nominations (including self nominations) should be sent to CommNom@iris.edu by October 1, 2015.

Thanks!
