Paul Silver - IRIS Friend and Colleague Dies

Long-term IRIS supporter and Carnegie scientist Paul Silver died  tragically in an automobile accident, along with his daughter Celine,  on August 7.  Paul chaired the IRIS Executive Committee (now Board of  Directors) in 1991 - 1992 and served on the PASSCAL Standing  Committee, the Planning Committee, the Joint Seismic Program Committee  and as the IRIS representative from the Carnegie Institution.  His  work in establishing the Plate Boundary Observatory played a key role  in the development of EarthScope.

Paul was an innovative scientist and greatly valued for his  leadership within the IRIS and EarthScope communities. Paul was a  wonderful colleague and will be sorely missed.
